About 390th Memorial Museum
The 390th Memorial Museum, located in Hangar 8 on the grounds of the Pima Air & Space Museum, preserves the history of the 390th Bombardment Group and the men who flew and supported its B-17 Flying Fortress missions. The U.S. Army Air Forces activated the group in 1943, and it became part of the Eighth Air Force's strategic bombing campaign against Germany and occupied Europe.
The museum was created through the efforts of 390th veterans and supporters who worked to preserve artifacts, records, and personal stories from the group. Its collection includes the B-17G known as I'll Be Around, along with photographs, documents, objects, and interpretive exhibits that connect the aircraft to the people who served with the 390th. The museum also maintains archival materials beyond what is displayed publicly.
Visitors can examine the B-17 at close range and explore exhibits focused on combat missions, crews, ground personnel, wartime losses, and the broader Allied air campaign. Because admission is included with entry to the surrounding Pima Air & Space Museum, the 390th Memorial Museum can be combined easily with one of the country's largest collections of historic aircraft.
