About Colonial Quarter
Colonial Quarter is a living-history attraction in the heart of St. Augustine's historic district that interprets the city's development across several colonial periods. Rather than presenting a single preserved monument, the experience combines reconstructed settings, interpretive spaces, colonial-style buildings, and a historic house more than 270 years old to help visitors understand how residents lived, worked, traded, and defended the settlement.
Guided tours feature working demonstrations such as blacksmithing and historic artillery, while self-guided visitors can explore the grounds during operating hours. A 35-foot watchtower provides elevated views toward Castillo de San Marcos and the bayfront, and the Flags Over St. Augustine walkway traces the many governments that have ruled the city. The hands-on format makes the complex especially useful for families seeking an accessible introduction to the colonial history of the nation's oldest continuously occupied European-founded settlement.
