Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park

Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park commemorates the Battle of Olustee, fought on February 20, 1864, between Union troops advancing west from Jacksonville and Confederate forces from Florida and Georgia. More than 10,000 soldiers took part in the five-hour engagement, including three U.S. Colored Troops regiments such as the 54th Massachusetts Infantry. The battle ended in a Union retreat and produced more than 2,800 casualties, making it Florida's largest and bloodiest Civil War battle.

Visitors can walk a roughly one-mile interpretive trail through the pine woods, read exhibits explaining troop movements and personal experiences, and view monuments that mark the preserved battlefield. The park also hosts a major annual reenactment in February. The museum is currently closed, but the outdoor battlefield, trail, monuments, picnic area and other park grounds remain available during regular hours.
